Affiliate Landing Pages allows you to create dedicated landing pages for your affiliates, which they can promote without using an affiliate link.

Create and assign a dedicated landing page

With Affiliate Landing Pages, you can now create and assign a dedicated landing page (page or post) to each affiliate (or even to certain special affiliates). This landing page could display detailed information about the affiliate, show content specific to them, show content published by them, or absolutely anything you want! Potentially the most beautiful aspect of Affiliate Landing Pages is its utterly seamless integration with WordPress and the default WordPress editor. Simply build a landing page and assign it to an affiliate. Easy!

No affiliate link required!

Some people are extremely good at spotting an affiliate link. They hover over the link and look at the URL in the browser status bar. This is more common than you think; people like to know where that link is taking them! Some affiliate links can look “sketchy” and are packed with long query strings and random characters. Other people simply don’t like clicking on affiliate links at all, knowing that someone is going to earn a commission if they decide to purchase.

When a potential customer chooses not to click an affiliate link, it means a missed sale opportunity for you. Why take the chance?

By using Affiliate Landing Pages, there is no affiliate link in sight. Potential customers are more likely to click the link and purchase from your site.

How does Affiliate Landing Pages work?

Affiliate Landing Pages allows you to assign any page or post to an affiliate. This is done via a new metabox called Affiliate Landing Pages:

Once the landing page is assigned to an affiliate, the affiliate can then promote the landing page’s URL without needing to use their affiliate link.

When a potential customer clicks the link and arrives on the landing page, the affiliate’s ID is stored in a cookie. If the customer purchases, the affiliate who referred them will receive a commission. This works exactly like standard tracking in AffiliateWP.

Examples

For the following examples, let’s pretend for a moment that your website is https://mysite.com and you have an affiliate named Sasha.

Example 1: Guest blogging

Sasha writes a guest post for your website titled “5 ways this product will improve your life”.

Naturally, WordPress creates a more efficient slug based on the post title (note the missing words). The URL of the post is:

https://ift.tt/38HkCWK

Next we’ll assign the post to Sasha via the Affiliate Landing Pages metabox:

Sasha can now promote the URL across social media, email, targeted ad campaigns, websites… anywhere she wants, all without needing to use her affiliate link!

Example 2: Brand ambassador pages

Sasha is a brand ambassador for your website. You create a new page for her titled “Sasha”:

Sasha can now promote the URL of https://ift.tt/324hva0.

Example 3: One affiliate as an exclusive affiliate for your product

You might decide that Sasha should be an exclusive affiliate for your new product. You create a new page titled “My Awesome Product” (replace with actual awesome product name) and assign it to her:

Sasha can now promote the URL of https://ift.tt/2DukXkb.

Example 4: Multiple affiliates as exclusive affiliates for your product

You might decide that multiple affiliates should each have their own dedicated landing page for the my-awesome-product product. Since you can only assign each page to one affiliate, you would create (and assign) a child page for each affiliate.

Sasha can now promote a URL of https://ift.tt/3253Uzs.

The examples above are just some of the ways you might use Affiliate Landing Pages. Because it integrates seamlessly with WordPress, you can design your landing pages the way you’re most familiar with, whether it’s via your theme’s default page templates or page builder. Add the affiliate’s name, photo, phone number, the choice is yours!

Key features

  • Easily assign any landing page to an affiliate: Search for affiliates by username, name or email address. Partial searches can also be used.
  • Assign multiple landing pages to an affiliate: Affiliates can have more than one landing page assigned to them.
  • Display landing pages to affiliates: Affiliates can see all landing pages assigned to them from the Affiliate URLs tab of the Affiliate Area. You can also display landing pages to the affiliate using the [affiliate_landing_pages] shortcode.
  • Design your landing pages as you’re used to: Affiliate Landing Pages seamlessly integrates with WordPress so you can use the tools you’re most familiar with to build your landing pages.

AffiliateWP provides many different affiliate URL variations that your affiliates can use simultaneously.

Custom Affiliate Slugs takes this one step further, allowing affiliates to create their own custom “slug”. A slug is the piece of the referral URL where there would usually be the affiliate’s username or ID.

An affiliate can set a custom affiliate slug
An affiliate can set a custom affiliate slug

For example, if an affiliate’s username is john and they have an affiliate ID of 123, they will be familiar with using any one of these referral URLs:

https://ift.tt/2ZcQEGW;

https://ift.tt/3fg7NFx;

https://ift.tt/2Ob6Lib;

https://ift.tt/2ZcCy8C;

With a custom slug of mycustomslug123, the affiliate can now use either of these referral URLs in addition to the above variations:

https://ift.tt/2Dq6oOp;

https://ift.tt/3ehGVnc;

Customized affiliate slugs can be more personal, more relevant to the affiliate’s business name, more relevant to the affiliate’s marketing efforts, or completely random. Or, if your affiliate has a WordPress username on your site they’d like to keep private, they can set a new custom slug which they can use in a professional manner for their affiliate links.

The admin settings for the Custom Affiliate Slugs add-on
The admin settings for the Custom Affiliate Slugs add-on

In addition, the Auto-create Custom Slugs option can be enabled. When enabled, a custom slug will be generated for your affiliates when:

  1. An affiliate registers via the affiliate registration form
  2. The Auto Register New Users option is enabled from Affiliates → Settings → Misc and a user is automatically registered as an affiliate
  3. An affiliate is added manually via the Affiliates → Affiliates → Add New screen

The slug generated is based on the rules defined in the add-on’s settings.

Using Custom Affiliate Slugs as an affiliate

Affiliates can set their custom slug from the “Settings” tab of the Affiliate Area. They can also remove their custom slug entirely, or change it at any point.

Using Custom Affiliate Slugs as a site admin

Site admins can enable custom slugs for all affiliates, or just some. An affiliate’s custom slug can also be changed or removed from the “Edit Affiliate” admin page. When adding a new affiliate, the custom slug can be optionally set. When exporting a list of your affiliates, a new “custom slug” column will display each affiliate’s current custom slug.

If your Default Referral Format is set to ID or Username you can enable the Show Custom Slug option in Custom Affiliate Slug’s settings, and the affiliate’s custom slug (if they have one) will be shown on the Affiliate URLs tab of the Affiliate Area alongside the affiliate’s ID or username so they can still use their ID or username.

When you install and activate Custom Affiliate Slugs, a new Custom Affiliate Slug option will also appear in the Default Referral Format select menu in the Affiliates → Settings → General tab. This allows you to show an affiliate their referral URL with their custom slug, rather than the ID or username. The affiliate will also be able to generate a referral URL using the URL generator with their custom slug (their ID or username will not be visible).

Example use-cases

Here are some ways you and your affiliates can use this incredibly useful add-on:

(Remember, you can change the referral variable from the default “ref” – here’s how.)

Add-on features

  • Allow all affiliates to create their own custom slugs when logged into the Affiliate Area
  • Allow only certain affiliates to create their own custom slugs
  • Automatically generate custom slugs for new affiliates who register
  • Set a maximum number of characters for auto-created custom slugs
  • Generate alphanumeric or alphabetic auto-created custom slugs
  • Modify an affiliate’s existing custom slug in the Affiliate Edit screen, or remove it entirely
  • Set a custom slug when manually adding a new affiliate
  • Use with pretty or non-pretty affiliate referral URLs
  • No duplicate slugs – no two affiliates will have the same slug
  • Custom slugs can be changed at any time – when one is changed, it is freed up for other affiliates to take if they try to change theirs
  • Confirmation required when changing a slug – the custom slug needs to be entered twice to confirm if the affiliate wishes to change it
  • Use the affiliate campaign feature with custom slugs

Give your affiliates more control of the URLs they share with their audience with the Custom Affiliate Slugs add-on!

Direct Link Tracking allows affiliates to link directly to your site without the need for an affiliate link.

This is a major incentive for your affiliates, and may help earn you more money.

If a visitor recognizes an affiliate link whilst on an affiliate’s site, they’ll know the affiliate will earn a commission if they click that link and purchase your product. In some instances, an affiliate link may make a visitor skeptical of your site content, and they won’t click the link. A potential customer turned off by an affiliate link could mean a missed sale for you (and a missed commission for your affiliate).

By using Direct Link Tracking, visitors will be completely unaware of any affiliate links, greatly increasing the chance of clicking a link to your site and going on to complete a purchase. You’ll be happy because you get more sales, and your affiliates will be happy because they earn more commission.

Use Direct Link Tracking for

An increased opportunity for more sales

Visitors won’t know they are clicking on affiliate links.

Happier and more motivated affiliates

Since there’s no affiliate link, affiliates have a higher chance of earning a commission, and they’ll work harder to get it. Visitors can’t copy and paste the link into a new window and remove their tracking parameters, because there are none!

Enhanced SEO

Links to your site do not contain any affiliate parameters, so they will be more SEO-friendly.

How does Direct Link Tracking work?

When the Direct Link Tracking add-on is activated, affiliates will be able to enter their domain (or domains) into their Affiliate Area on your site. Once they have submitted a domain for approval, and it is approved by the site administrator, the affiliate can link directly to your site, from theirs, without using their referral link.

When a visitor clicks the link on the affiliate’s website and arrives on your site, the domain is looked up in the database. If the domain belongs to an affiliate, that affiliate’s ID is stored in the browser’s cookies, just like a normal affiliate link.

If the customer then goes on to complete a purchase (or a conversion), a referral will be created for the affiliate.

Features

  1. Dedicated “Direct Links” screen: Adds a “Direct Links” area to the WordPress admin for a full overview and easy management of all direct link tracking domains
  2. Domain approval: An affiliate cannot earn commission and link directly to your site unless you approve their domain
  3. Enable globally or per-affiliate: Enable Direct Link Tracking on a global or per-affiliate level
  4. Maximum number of domains: Set the number of domains an affiliate can enter on a global or per-affiliate level
  5. Change domain status: Approve, reject, delete, or make direct links inactive from the central “Direct Links” admin screen
  6. Easily manage your affiliate’s domains: Add, update, approve, reject or delete direct links for your affiliates, right from the WordPress admin.
  7. Email notifications: Send an email notification to the site administrator when a new domain has been submitted for approval and send an email notification to the affiliate when their domain has been approved or rejected.
  8. Blacklist domains: Add domains to the domain blacklist to prevent them from being added, and also prevent a visit from being stored if they are already in use.

Important Note

  • There are certain web browsers, such as Safari on iOS, that have more restrictions. For example, when an affiliate’s site is using http:// and your site is using https://, your site may not properly detect the direct affiliate traffic. There is a workaround, however, that you can instruct your affiliates to apply to their website to ensure this works properly.
