Your files are everything. They are the products that you have labored to create, and the entire reason your customers give you their hard-earned money. Doesn’t it make sense to keep them as safe as possible while also making them easy to manage and reliably distribute? We think so, which is why we’re huge proponents of storing and serving product files from a third party file hosting service, instead of from your web server.

For this reason we’ve created the Dropbox extension for Easy Digital Downloads. It integrates your store with Dropbox so you can store and deliver files from a file-hosting service instead of your web host.

Store files separate from your web host

Your website and your digital product are different from each other. Why store them both in the same place? By using Dropbox along with Easy Digital Downloads, you can keep your website on your web server and your digital product files in your Dropbox account. Your customers will never know the difference but you will definitely appreciate the benefits of being able to manage your files where they belong.

Select existing files or upload new files from the download edit screen

Your product files will be stored separately from the rest of your site’s media, but it won’t affect your workflow. With this extension, you can use the standard media management popup to browse, select, and insert files from Dropbox into your download product.

Fast, secure delivery regardless of file size

Easy Digital Downloads automatically generates unique download links for every customer with configurable expirations to prevent unauthorized file sharing. This feature still works perfectly with the Dropbox extension. Plus, Dropbox makes it much easier to support large product files which otherwise commonly cause issues when uploaded directly to a site’s media library.

Just activate the plugin and all the download’s files (including bundled downloads) will be attached to the purchase receipt. You can also override this setting and enable it on a per download level.

Pay special attention to the size of your download attachments. This extension is great for sending files as attachments, but a large file over 10mb may not reach a customer’s inbox. Some customer’s may have the maximum size for an email set even lower. Also note that this plugin does not remove download links from the purchase confirmation page (this can be done by editing the shortcode-receipt page), or the purchase confirmation receipt (you can remove download links from the email yourself).

Cross-selling is suggesting additional products to your customers that complement what they have already added to their shopping cart. These suggested cross-sell products are shown on the checkout page.

Upselling

Upselling is suggesting similar, slightly higher value products to a customer than what they are currently viewing — for example, a bundle or package that also includes that product. Upsells are shown on an individual product’s page.

Custom headings

Personalise the headings that appear above your cross-sells and upsells. In the instance where multiple cross-sells are triggered at checkout and the custom heading is not relevant, a generic heading can be configured.

Reporting

See how well your cross-sells and upsells are performing with a summary of total number of sales and earnings for each product.

Enhanced payment details

View details of a specific payment to see exactly which purchased products were cross-sells and which were upsells.

Exporting

Export a history of both Cross-sells and Upsells in CSV format, for any month, any year, or any status.

Logging

Just like the other logs in Easy Digital Downloads, you can view logs for both cross-sells and upsells. Look under the hood and see all the cross-sells or upsells for a specific payment ID.

Fully localized/translation ready

This add-on for Easy Digital Downloads allows you to easily restrict content on your site to only those users who have purchased your products. In just seconds, you can limit the content of any post, page, custom post type, and even bbPress forums and topics to confirmed buyers of any product. If a user has not purchased the required product, they will be unable to view restricted content and will be shown a message instead, telling them they must purchase the product.

Once activated, all posts, pages, forums, topics, and other posts from public custom post types will have a section added to the edit screen that allows you to select the product, or products, that the customer needs to have purchased in order to access the content.

Along with restricting the entire content of posts or pages, you can also restrict partial content areas with the [edd_restrict] short code.

Note: in order to access restricted content, customers must create accounts on your site during purchase.

EDD Conditional Success Redirects allows a store admin to set the purchase confirmation page conditionally based on which product was purchased.

It only redirects to the selected page if the product with the redirect set is the only product in the cart at the time of a successful purchase.

The redirect will not occur when there are multiple products successfully purchased, with at least one product having a redirect.

Through the newly created “Conditional Success Redirects” admin page you can setup your redirects, edit your redirects, and make redirects active/inactive. When a redirect is inactive, it prevents the redirect from occurring.

Only 1 redirect per product can be set (for obvious reasons) so when adding a new redirect, any existing products with redirects will be hidden from the select menu.
